Ten on Tuesday

I was really debating not doing today's post because of some news that I got yesterday, but alas, I'm trucking along. No, it does not directly involve me, no worries people. Please visit Chelsea's blog to participate and read other Ten on Tuesdays.

1. What’s the one thing you always do when you’re stressed?
I bite the insides of my checks. I've always done it, I don't know why.

2. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever done for a friend?
Weirdest? I have no idea. Um... probably calling a friend's boyfriend when they weren't talking or something. Yes, I have stalkerish friends. It's been a long while since then though.

3. What cleaning supply could you not live without?
Any sort of spray cleaner. I love spray cleaners. I use a green cleaner. Occasionally, when the baby isn't here, I use a bleach cleaner to get a real clean, but I don't like using it around the kiddo(s).

4. How long do you plan on living where you currently reside?.
Hopefully for only a few more months, even though our lease isn't up until April. Anyone want to sublease? Don't get me wrong, I love our apartments, great location, amazing pool, gym, etc. But, we want to move on soon.

5. Do you usually vote straight party, a mixture, or not at all?
Mixture.

6. What’s something that you love to do, but seem to never make time for?
Read! I need to do that more. Also, anything artsy. And photography. Everything seems to have slipped once I got pregnant... EVERYTHING. Hopefully, it'll come back though.

7. What’s your favorite store to buy things for other people?
Probably Target because they have a little of everything and I can get a good idea. But, it really depends on the person and age. Babies?! I'll shop around baby stores!

8. What’s the weather like around you today?
A little humid and muggy, with a possibility of rain. Thank you news.

9. What’s the worst book you’ve ever bought and read?
I have no idea. I wouldn't say I've read a 'bad book.' At least I haven't gotten to the point of having to put it down and find another one. Given, I always ask my parents and friends for some book references. I only pick the ones I think I'll like. Minus the ones my dad suggests, I read all of those. He's always been right about whether or not I'd like it.

10. What’s the closest thing to you that is yellow?
A block. Yes, Ian's toy.

That's it for today. Thank you for bearing with me.

Mommy Goggles

Just in case you are wondering why I'm writing at post at 4am, it's Jackie's fault. I was sort of sleepy at 9 last night and she told me that if I was tired early, I should definitely go to bed early. Now, here I am, awake, at 4am. I should probably clean, but I'll probably read our birthing home study book instead.

Quick update on rain sounds: wonderful. I think that everyone slept better, I know that I slept really well. And most importantly, I was able to fall asleep quickly, which never happens for me. Thank you pregnancy/insomnia. If you're thinking about getting a white noise machine of sorts, go for it! Thanks Aunt Mary.

Ian

is doing much better! I don't know what I've written and what I haven't. Ian had three doctor's appointments last week. Two of which, my wonderful mother took him to because I had to work. Turns out, Ian had a double ear infection. Today is the last day of his antibiotics and seems to be doing amazing. He was doing better after 24 hours of antibiotics, so that was nice.

Yes, his cast is still on, and it's still orange! He sported it with a nice orange onsie during the UT football game to... he also stayed awake for the entire game. He has started this huge attitude when he begins to get tired. He just screams and yells at us instead of using his words. We are really working on that. I am not a huge fan of getting yelled at all the time.

Mila

is huge. Or at least I'm assuming that she is. Right now, we are 23 weeks, 2 days along. She weighs as much as a large mango! Though, if you were to ask me, I'd say she's much bigger. It is my bladder she enjoys smooshing and pelvis she enjoys nestling in. We have a doctor's appointment this week, that should be exciting. I haven't had any cravings lately, probably because I can't taste. Though, Stephen took it upon himself to dust our bedroom because of mine and Ian's congestion. I did sleep easier last night, though, I'm still congested.

Back to Mila, I think I'll have more to update after the appointment. I will say that so far, Ian is a great big brother. As part of his bedtime ritual, he now applies lotion to the baby belly and kisses Mila goodnight. I really like this ritual, it's super cute. I'm trying to lessen the blow of bringing a new baby home. I still think it's going to be a little bit traumatic.

Anywho, that's it for today. Don't forget that How I Met Your Mother is on tonight! Don't forget it!!

Weekend Update

This weekend has been a pretty good weekend so far.

The Longhorns won, despite their terrible offense.

We've been cleaning out our closet. So far, we've donated two garbage bags full of clothes and thrown out another bag of ripped and ruined clothes. We aren't even done yet, but it is what we're working on for the rest of the day/night when we get the chance.

I got my hair cut yesterday. As I was sitting in the chair, I showed her how short I wanted it. Right before she started cutting it, she noticed that my hair was really, really long and asked if she could measure it to donate it. She was a little bummed out because I still needed a few inches. I told her to go ahead and cut off the required length... and she did! I now have really short hair, Stephen says that I look like a "mom" now. But I like it. My head feels lighter and I'm not as hot. And, I can wear it in a tiny pony tail, curly, or straight, it's pretty nice.

Remember my last post about Ian needing to be in the shower to sleep? Well, funny enough, over the weekend he was crying again and he ended up sleeping on the bathroom floor with it on, don't worry, I got him pillows.

Anyways, my aunt wrote me after that post and suggested that we try a white noise machine for the wee one. I have never thought about it. I did find one that I really like, but I'd have to wait to have it, and well... I'm all about instant gratification. After asking my parents, I did some research and found out how to make my own shower sounds. This nerdy dad explains how he made his own sounds for his child. I did the same thing.

But then my dad sent me another link: White Noise 247. It has music that you can either stream on your computer or download. I downloaded "Rain" and "Calm Sea Waves." We'll be listening to it tonight and see if it helps. I don't know which one yet. I think I may prefer the rain sounds, but I also really like the waves sounds too. I'll post about it tomorrow. Hey, and who knows... we may actually use the one I made! But probably not, I think it sounds a little funny. I'm going to make it anyways.

Completely off topic, but Stephen has been getting into this amazingly awesome ritual where he makes me breakfast every single Sunday. It's like Heaven.

Um... how tasty does that look? Ian had a strawberry (and I had a few bites of omelet) before I decided to take out my phone and snap a picture. Doesn't it look good? It's a tomato and bacon omelet and was quite tasty. It is even more special because Stephen loathes eggs... I mean really, he hates them. Yet, he's learned to cook them just right for me and it's wonderful. What a great way to wake up on the weekends. :)

I know that you want an Ian and Mila update, but you're going to have to wait until tomorrow for that.

Motherhood

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I have one of those jobs that doesn't allow me breaks or a computer or anything... so I literally have to be awake at obscure hours to fit a blog into my day. I've been up since before 5 this morning. It's really not a big deal. The little dude and I seem to have developed allergies, though I'm beginning to think that Ian needs some serious medicine or something for his.

Alas, I'll be calling today to make him a doctor's appointment in hopes that they'll fit him in without a problem. Though, I know for a fact that every child is oozing boogers and coughing right now. I'm also sure that I have been awake nearly all night because Ian wakes up crying. I had to pick him up and walk into the bathroom and turn the shower on, much like I used to when he was younger and had colic. It was all too familiar. I think that the shower sound is really soothing to him, I can see that.

I almost feel like a terrible mother because Ian has been to the doctor, for one reason or another, just about every single week for the past month. And it's not even like I'm overreacting (which is shocking), there is legitimately something wrong every. single. time.

Oh, in case you didn't get the memo, Ian got his cast wet. Do you like how I say Ian did it? It was in fact a parent, Ian didn't intentionally to do. But, we did have to go to the doctor yesterday and get a new cast. Don't worry, I kept the old one that has all of the signatures. His new one however is a different color:

Doesn't he just look sick? It's really sad. The doctor's office needs to hurry up and open so that I can call. Back to the cast. I like this one better because I can see his toes and play with them. They really need to get cut. Maybe I can do that today.

Also, my new hope is that if the doctor decides to weigh him with his cast on, he'll be on the growth chart. Though, I doubt it. Whereas he is catching up a lot in height, his weight is still pretty far off. I can dream though, right?

Well people, that's all you get out of me this morning. Now, I'm going to make some breakfast, get ready for work, and watch the news. And yes, I do plan on being interrupted before all of this is done, but that's okay. Stephen was making fun of me because I can't sleep when Ian is sick. I literally sit there occupying myself surfing or something while he sleeps and I check on him every 10 minutes. I may have to go get a decaf coffee this morning (as I do on mornings when I need to trick myself into getting some energy).

Have an amazing day! It is Thursday after all, this week has flown by!

Mommy Goggles Monday

Ian
Ian decided to wake up early this morning. That means I have had no 'mommy' time and we're currently watching the news. Ian doesn't seem to mind too much.

Yesterday we stopped by to see our cousins for a little bit. It was nice. They wanted to sign Ian's cast. (Granny and Grandadoo also came up this weekend and signed said cast). Now, it looks beautiful! And Marissa also decorated it with several beautiful pictures, you can see some of them in the pictures.

He still isn't walking on it, but he's getting around really well. And he has his dermatology appointment tomorrow and it looks like he may have a scar (because he picked his scab) but overall it looks wonderful.

Ian's top canines are coming in. He is constantly chewing on his hand. That's really weird because he didn't do that with any other teeth. I guess that these hurt extra bad.

I was feeling really under the weather yesterday (apparently I've developed allergies? I'm hoping it was just the storm and I'll be back to normal soon). Anyways, I was very tired so my wonderful husband took Ian out for the day. Then, he dropped him off at grandma and grandpas and ran errands. That was a nice break. Ian had a great time too and even napped over there which is unheard of.

Mila
Mila is doing good (I think). She seems to like to move most at night, which is fine by me, for now. We are 22 weeks, 2 days right now. I can't believe I'm that far along. She is about the size of a spaghetti squash (11 inches) and a pound-ish.

We have another check up next week and my blood work should come in today about the exposure to an illness thing. So, we're good there! We did find out that in October, my visits will start going to every other week. That's pretty frequent!

Waiting on some Blueberry Muffins...

My friend, Jackie, is bringing me some blueberry muffins this morning. I'm pretty thrilled about it. So here I am, eagerly awaiting her arrival with my tasty breakfast.

I know, you're probably wondering how I'm sitting here typing this blog when it's nearly 8am. And let me tell you friends, it's because Ian is sleeping. No, he doesn't normally sleep this late, but I figured I'd let him today for one reason: he woke up around 3:30 this morning and didn't fall back asleep until 5:00 this morning. I'm a little tired myself now. He wasn't in pain or upset or anything like that. He was just telling me "hi!" and giving me kisses and just being awake. Finally, I picked him back up and was able to rock him back to sleep on the bed.

Back to my muffins, they just arrived.

I know that you want some. Maybe you should find a Jackie too. I really hope that I don't eat them all and Stephen gets to have some too. But, I make no promises. They are pretty tasty.

Yesterday, my wonderful grandma had to make an emergency trip to the city to come fix me. I stupidly wore flipflops while it was raining and I slipped. No, I didn't fall, but when I caught myself, it hurt my back really bad. And as you know, I'm already having lots of back problems. (Which we decided was from my back fracture in 8th grade). I stayed up that night and had a few back spasms and just could not get comfortable.

Long side note: I was literally laying in bed on my laptop and I refused to move (unless of course I had to pee). I would send an e-mail to Stephen's phone asking for things. But I kept forgetting. So he brought me chocolate milk, pretzels, and water on three separate trips. He was one room away in the living room and never had to leave, but I still felt bad for asking for everything. But, he brought it all without a complaint.

Back to my story. My grandma came in and worked her magic, plus some. I was even able to get my sinuses cleared up. And my back felt 100 times better by the time I had to go to work. She has demanded I start taking vitamin C and that I'd probably be sore. But man, I feel so good! And I did buy some vitamin c... finally.

If you haven't seen a chiropractor, you really should. I'm telling you, they work magic! My grandma has adjusted me since I was tiny and I love it!
