Mommy Goggles

Ian and I have been having so much fun lately! I had to leave him for over 24 hours to photograph a wedding in Houston (you can check it out at the Photography Blog). I wanted to cry, but alas, I resisted. And then yesterday, we went on another photoshoot to try and find places to take pictures. First stop?

Have you ever been to this place? It was completely fabulous. I can't believe I've never heard of it! There were peacocks EVERYWHERE!

And you could get pretty close to them. But sometimes, they'd yell at you. I had no idea they made those kinds of sounds.

Beautiful, right? Franny came along with us for the shoot. And her and Ian enjoyed looking at the fish.

It was a good time. I'm glad that Franny came along to help me out. Ian was running around that place like a crazy person. I'll, hopefully, make a post on the Photography Blog soon with the sessions pictures. Ian did try and rock it pretty hard too.

As you can guess, Ian has been amazing me daily, as usual. And he's so stinking cute! Especially when he Baaaaa's like a sheep. He's so serious about it. And tries so hard. It's hilarious.

I'll be (trying) to participate in the 10 on Tuesday, so check back for an update! And I really need to update the 101 in 1001, I'm falling behind.

TB or not TB?!

Good morning. My coffee tastes a little bit better these days. Ian woke up early with me this morning. Fun huh? He cried so I would change his wet diaper, just so he had a fresh diaper to go twosies in. Ah, parenthood.

**In case you missed it, Ian is walking!**

This morning is slightly busy. I have to take Michael to school. Then I go to campus to have my TB test read. I don't think I have TB. My wound looks like a normal shot, but the kind where the nurse stabs you really really hard. There's a little bruising. What happens when you have TB?

Speaking of shots, is anyone getting their flu shot this year? Supposedly Ian is old enough to get his flu shot, but I really hate adding to his regimen. I think that I might get one and I'm pretty sure he'll get the goods from me because he still breastfeeds. At least that's what we did last year.

This is a short scattered post. But, Ian is in my lap. You see how he effects my brain? Here's a picture from our road trip to Houston:

He's hard at work. Michael is in the background. We stopped by Lei Lei (sp?!) Dumpling House on the way out of town. Delicious.

Mini Vaca

Good afternoon!

As promised, here is Mommy Goggles mixed in with a Houston updated. We left for our trip Saturday morning at 4am. I know, sounds crazy right? But Ian hates his being in the car. So, we have to leave while he's sleeping. It worked out. We stopped twice. The second time I decided to go ahead and sit in the back with him. As soon as I got back there, he was out like a light. Here is the proof:

Adorable right? You have to tilt your head to the right to get the full effect. We got to Houston around 7:30 am and ate at Classic Cafe. Mmmmmm. We hadn't been there in forever. It was so delicious. When we got back to the soon-to-be-in-laws' place, Ian played on the porch. He saw Honey go through the doggie door. So obviously, he had to go investigate:He didn't go through the door. But, we sure did want him to. Oh well though. Later that night Amy came to join us at the Bendig's. She made the best margaritas that Stephen's mom feel in love with. We ordered pizza and forced Stephen into watching He's Just Not That Into You. It was a wonderful movie. I loved it.

Sunday, we decided to venture out to Kemah. Ian had a blast in the fountains. He was the only kid there! We went really early though. He loves water. It is adorable:

Then, we got hungry. We had to wait for Joe's to open. So, we sat inside because it was so hot outside. It was way past Ian's nap time, so we had to find ways to entertain him. Here he is with Grandpa:

I love his face! He's thinking "Why on Earth are you letting this man hold me?!" Hahaha, Ian and his faces. Then Granny Janny took her turn:

They are dancing to the music. We had a blast at Kemah. But alas, the trip had to come to an end. On our way out of town, we stopped by Starbucks. The whipped cream god, aka Robe, gave Ian his favorite surprise:

He thoroughly enjoyed it. Then Ian got to see him up close and personal. Uncle Robe got his practice in:

AH! I love this picture too. Ian loves Robe, I promise. It was just sunny and stuff. Robe loved Ian. It was fun. Then, we began our 3 hour, 3 stop journey back home. We made it though! Now, I must get back to reality and wedding planning! Oh, how exciting!

I hope that everyone had a good day.

Sunday Surprise

Good evening readers. We just left Houston for home in Austin. I am currently writing this blog in the car. Is that sad? We just left Starbucks downtown and we are one our way. Ian is full of “dada”’s in the back, Stephen is cruising, I’m sipping on a chai tea, and the Lion King soundtrack is softly playing in the background. It is pretty relaxing.

I will save our Houston update for tomorrow because Ian is highly involved in that update. And well, it isn’t Monday. Though, this blog does stem from a small portion of the trip. Amy, Granny Janny, Stephen and I were sipping on margaritas, about to start watching He’s Just Not That Into You when a preview came on.

The movie looked absolutely terrible. However, one of the ladies in the previews was writing a blog about her cooking. I decided I am going to try and do a weekly (haven’t decided the day yet), blog about a new meal I have cooked. I am trying to become more domesticated, so why not right?

I have two cookbooks, so most of the recipes will probably be from that. Or they will be slight variations. Or, they could be anything that I find particularly alluring. Deal? I am going to try my hardest to make this happen. I will have to admit, I am pretty excited about this new portion of my blog. I am not a cook by any means. Whenever I help my mom cook, or cook with her watching over my shoulder, by little brothers response is always “YOU made this? It tastes good.” Like, wow! It’s never tasted good before. I don’t know whether to take it as a complement or an insult. I try the first.

Eric Clapton

As part of my busy week, Stephen and I drove to Houston Wednesday to see Eric Clapton. We are insane. We drove to Houston around 1 (I'm completely making this number up, it was sometime after lunch). And we drove back to Austin after the concert.

Let me start from the beginning. Months ago, Stephen's parents invited us to this show. We, of course, accepted the invitation. Eric Clapton is amazing. Stephen's dad had to unexpectedly go out of town for business, so we had 4 tickets. After tons and tons of confusion, Robe and Caroline attended the show with us. It was so worth it. Plus, I hadn't seen Robe and Caroline in 9 months, and they are both in our wedding party. They bring joy to my heart.

Here are some pictures from the night:

Me and Caroline. :)

I must get a picture of me drinking every single time I drink. Here is one.

Yes, that is the man (boy?) I'm going to marry. :D

Stephen's nachos. If my mom were there, she would have not said a word as he licked the cheese off of his fingers... she would have handed him a napkin. He wouldn't have used it (or even gotten the hint). It's hilarious that she still tries.

Stephen and Robe...

THIS NEXT PICTURE IS UBER
This is the hippie that sat next to me and Caroline.

I had to be creative to get a picture of this guy without him knowing. Caroline is barely in the picture. I did my job. I like to imagine that if Stephen's dad could have gone to the show, that is much like what he would have worn. We couldn't get a picture of his bellbottoms, those were the best.

I also came to the conclusion that Eric Clapton must be Larry's (Stephen's dad) idol. They are identical twins. It was ridiculous.

The night was good. We were not the youngest ones there. We saw a few high school boys, they were with their parents. The entire show was awesome. Older people do not dance. They sit like they are in a movie theater... until Cocaine is played. There was so much dancing. We really enjoyed watching one man, we was spinning in cirlces. It was awesome.

I'm really glad we got to see Clapton. It was a blast. We then had to drive back to Austin... we had work in the morning.
