Ten on Tuesday

It's time for 10 on Tuesday. I think I forgot about it last week, but alas, I'm back with it.

1. What was/is your favorite live action (meaning not animated) kids movie?
The original Ninja Turtles movie. I should have Stephen get that for me.

2. What is a bad habit you have? Are you working on breaking it?
I have a bad habit of waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to go back to sleep. And I'm always trying to break it. Any ideas?

3. Describe your father in 3 words.
Awesome. Smart. Funny. (When I first read this, I thought it said describe myself, oops)

4. Which character in the Breakfast Club were you most like in the ’80s?
No idea. I've never seen the Breakfast Club... and I was born in 86, so I was most like a baby.

5. Name 5 songs you know ALL the lyrics to.
Oh my! I don't know! I don't really learn lyrics to songs anymore. Cruisin song by Gwenyth Paltrow and Heuy Lewis and Betty Davis eyes sung by Gwenyth Paltrow. Those are both from the movie Duets that I've seen 100 times. Um.... three more!? I'm sure I know all the lyrics to a Rocket Summer song and a Paramore song. The Cure - Just like Heaven. Bam! 5 songs!

6. Do you make pancakes from scratch or a box mix?
Box... duh! And I usually make waffles, not pancakes.

7. What was your worst job ever? Why?
The one I just quit and because it was terrible. Parents, check out your child care facility thoroughly before putting your child there.

8. What was your favorite class in high school?
The one class with photography and photoshop. I can't remember the name. Plus, my teacher was uber funny. And later, I realized that Jackie was in that class.

9. Favorite summer guilty pleasure?
Going to the pool! Ian and I have been going every single morning. It's so much fun!

10. Please share your best money saving tip!
Best money saving tip.... hmm.... budget? Budget like mad! If you know where all of your money is going, it's really easy to cut costs and save where needed.

Sea World

Today, my mommy goggles post will be about Ian's Sea World trip. My mom, Amy and I took Ian to Sea World and met Amy's friend and her little boy up there. It was really fun.

The drive was pretty good. I drove and my mom rode in back with Ian. Thanks to her handy new cellular device, Ian got to watch Cars when he got tired of riding in the car. So, it was a success. He didn't really get cranky.

And man was it hot! But, it wasn't unbearable. And the shade was nice.

We stopped for a while in the shade while waiting for Amy's friend and watched the skiers. It was pretty fun. And really awesome! I couldn't do all of those maneuvers. I was very impressed. They even made a people pyramid. We were bummed for the ones that fell because nobody came to get them. They had to find their skis and swim out of the way before another boat came by.

This was Ian's face during the entire Shamu shoe. It was hysterical. As soon as the show started he was super serious and concerned. We were pretty far away too, like two rows behind the splash zone. It was intense I guess. He must know that they are called killer whales. And here is one last picture... of shamu.

It was a really fun day. Then, we headed back and showered and went to my parents for dinner with the grandparents. It was a long day. I fell asleep as soon as I got home. The sun really takes a lot of me. I think we're going back to Sea World this week, so I'll update you on that too!

Until next time...

Butter

Finally, I know you have all been waiting. Here are a few pictures of Ian when he got into the butter.

Yes, he was eating it and rubbing it into his body. Good black mail pictures for when he is older? I think so.

Happy Father's Day

Here is a special Sunday post because it's Father's Day!! We went to the park and grilled... here is a collage:

I must say, we had a lot of fun! :) Stephen grilled some burger and brawts. They were super tasty. Ian had a blast too. Father's Day = Success.

Pulling out the Reader

I remembered that I posted that I have found some cute blog posts lately. That's all I'm going to post about, so if you're not interested, you can just close this window!

Mom! I'm bored!
I thought this was amazingly cute! It's a jar that a mom made with ideas for her kids to do when they are bored. The best part is, some of them are not fun (and benefit mom)! It's a cute idea! I really liked it. I'll definitely put it into action when Ian reaches his "mom, I'm bored" age.

Outdoor Shed Office
Perhaps one of the best ideas I've seen in a really, really long time. I totally want to do this if/when we ever buy a house. I'll put it in the back yard so that I can do office things while Ian plays and I can still keep an eye on him! What a wonderful idea. But, in Austin, it probably shouldn't be used after 10-11am in the summer. But overall, I love it!

Semi-Electronic Baby Book
I wish I had this when Ian was born. IT looks awesome. It keeps track of so many baby things and has a clock in the middle so you know the times of naps/feedings, etc without having to go find the time. And it has an LED light so you don't have to turn on the lights, you can basically just leave it next to the crib! Sounds awesome, I'm sure it is.

Tow MATER!
Don't be surprised when you see this at Ian's second birthday party... after all, Cars is his favorite movie... and Mater is my favorite character. Jackie and I have decided that we're going to try and make them. But, this little cupcake looks amazing! Can't wait to try and make them.

Ten on Tuesday

I don't have the pretty picture for the blog today, but head on over to Chelsea's blog if you want to get the questions or read her Ten on Tuesday.

1. What would the title of your autobiography be?
This is a tough one. I have no clue. I'll have to think about it.

2. What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever heard a child say or seen him/her do?
Ian. He says "no" now when we ask him things. That's not the funny part. He shakes his head back and forth too. He makes it very obvious that he means no and it's hysterical. That's all I can think of now. He did say.... the f word earlier this month. I really need to watch myself. In my defense, I smashed my foot in a door.

3. What is your favorite kids game to play?
Mario Brothers on Wii. Even though I don't have the right one, but Amy does. Amy... what is the name of that game?! I want it so bad!

4. If you got invited to a potluck BBQ tomorrow, what would you bring?
BBQ... and last time, I brought queso.

5. If your ears are pierced, how old were you when you got your ears pierced?
I was really little. I don't even remember getting it done. I do know that my mom made my Aunt Ana go with me and my mom left while I got it done.

6. If you were celebrating your 30th anniversary, where would you want to go?
IDK. We aren't anywhere close to our 30th anniversary! Maybe somewhere overseas, like Ireland.

7. What one blogger would you love to meet and why? And what would you want to plan to do with them?
This is a tough one. I have no clue. Maybe Jen Cota, a photographer, and I'd like to go on a photo shoot with her as a second shooter and learn her ways.

8. On a scale from 1-10, how good at you at home decor? (Pictures welcome.)
1. Right now at least. It's tough because I want to do things, and Stephen always disagrees. So instead, nothing has happened. I'll get it soon. I'll just do it while he's at work... :)

9. Do you have good fingernails?
Usually not, but right now I do for the most part.

10. Pickles: Dill or sweet? Baby, spears, or chips? Plain or on a burger?
Dill. Chips. Plain.

Blog out for now. I have found some cute blog posts this past week. Maybe I'll share them with you tomorrow.

Ian's First Zoo Trip

My mom and I took Ian to the San Antonio Zoo for his very first zoo trip. It was a huge success. This post is picture heavy... I'm just warning you. The drive took much longer than we thought, mainly because we had to stop by D&A to drop off Stephen's phone and my dad's glasses, because the one day we had somewhere to be, they forgot things. Then we stopped by Krispy Kreme so that Ian could have his fill of donuts and chocolate milk. He rather enjoyed it. And ate lots of donut holes. We were almost in San Antonio when Ian could not handle it anymore, so my mom moved to the back seat to keep him company and I drove the rest of the way.

Ian hates riding in the car. We are debating on getting him his own portable DVD player so that he can watch Cars while we drive. And they are pretty simple, so I think he could figure out how to press "play." But, we want one that attaches to the seat, we're shopping. You should tell me if you know of any, that would be nice.

Finally, we get to San Antonio. And first and foremost, we apply our sunscreen.

Ian loves animals. But, he was way more interested in the water. Everytime we passed it, he's very excitedly point it out to my mom and I: "Ottie!" It was hysterical. We also found out, that he's scared of the big fish. He'd go up and look at the little ones, but with the big ones, he'd back up until he ran into my mom.

After a while, we got to this awesome section in their zoo. It's a zone just for kids. That's right. It's a kid zone! Ian really enjoyed it. They had a place indoors for children to play and look at animals, then outside they had all kinds of things for the kids to play on. Here's Ian looking at the Prairie Dogs...

This is when he started waving after leaving the animals he liked. He liked to prairie dogs, so he'd wave at them when he walked to the next place to peak into. This kid zone had all kinds of things, like a boat:

And a wagon with blocks...

And, I don't have a picture, but they also had this beach area that Ian played in. There is sand and water. He had a blast. After we finished up with the kiddo section, we explored the rest of the zoo. And Ian loved the ostrich.

He was making a really creepy sound when looking at it (side note: if you look closely, you can see a giraffe in the background). I thought that the sound was a coincidence, but he's still next to me right now (in his highchair eating fruit) and he's making the same creepy sound. The ostrich didn't make a noise when we saw it... I have no idea where Ian pulled it from, but it's pretty hysterical. Next, we went a saw some birds:

And I finally got a picture of Ian waving!!

We saw a million more animals, but I didn't want to bore everyone with all of the pictures. I might make a little book for Ian... his first zoo trip. It was a lot of fun. We had to try and keep him awake at the end. This is what he looked like in his stroller:

Yep, looks like an exhausted baby to me! But, the trip was a lot of fun.

How's that for an update?!

Until next time, blog out!

So Sleepy

I'm tired. So, I'm not doing a real post, but this is me just saying "I'll post something soon." And I'll try and keep up with it more. I always find myself saying that. But, here is a picture of my little brother and his buddies at his graduation party.

How cute is that? I really, can never get Michael to smile in pictures, he always has to do something ridiculous.

Be Gone with the Sickness

Ian and I were sick today. So, our loving husband and father stayed home with us to help out. It was good that he did because we got delicious baked potato soup from Central Market. It is my absolute favorite soup. I've been up since 3am being sick. It's only about 7:15 at night now, and here I am getting ready for bed and posting my blog. Ian is running around brushing his teeth (perhaps one of his favorite pastimes). We spent the day watching Cars a million times, eating soup, a few crackers, drinking Sprite (along with the Blue Sky version), and drinking Gatorade. I think we're ready to conquer tomorrow... we should be. Ian will be hanging out with my mom tomorrow.

Right now, it's thundering outside. It looks like rain!! I sure hope so. We've really been needing it lately. It's been so hot too! Poor Ian doesn't like the heat. We may live in the wrong state. Ian will just have to get used to it (me too I guess, I get really cranky when it's hot).

Well, I don't got much else to say tonight. I wish I could have posted a few pictures of Ian, but those are all on the other computer.

That's Ian the month he was born. He had ridiculous expressions since the day he was born. I love them. He's so expressive.

Ian has joined me in th bedroom. It's STORMING outside. :) I think he's scared.

Blog out.

Sick Baby

I was all prepared to write a long post today, full of pictures from the weekend with Larry and Janet. However, the baby is sick. He's thrown up a few times today. No fever though. It's a big bummer. I hope that he feels better soon. Especially because he's not eating much and that makes me very nervous because he's so skinny. :(

Blog out.
