Ten on Tuesday

That's right. It's another round of Ten on Tuesday. :)

1. Favorite book(s) when you were a child and why?
Let's see. I LOVE Dr. Seuss books. My parents would always read them to me when I was little. I would memorize them. They are so catchy. The art work is insane. I love Dr. Seuss. And obviously, I did as a child too.

2. First “grown-up” book you remember reading (i.e. written for adolescents or with adult themes, such as The Outsiders or Catcher in the Rye).
Little Women. My 4th grade teacher got it for me. I loved it. I still have it around here somewhere.

3. Favorite movie that came from a book (even if you didn’t read the book and just love the movie).
Harry Potter! I'm just about to start/finish the books. I've never read them. But I absolutely adore the movies.

4. Movie that you loved so much that you WISHED there was a book out so that you could find out more about the movie.
Oh, I don't know. I don't get to watch very many movies. I mean, the last movie I saw was Hangover. And I didn't want to read a book about that. Maybe Lost, the series. I wish they were based on books.

5. Worst book you’ve ever read?
I hate history type books. I started reading one of Stephen's in his Kindle, fell asleep, and never started it again. Don't judge me. We all have our quirks. That is mine. :)

6. Book that everyone raves about that you either a) haven’t read and feel slightly dumb for not having read it or b) have tried to read and hated and so feel slightly dumb that everyone is getting something you don’t.
Very recently Stephen got me an audio book, Watership Down. Him and Aaron will talk about it. I can't tell if they're mocking me because it's a joke book, or if they're being serious. Apparently, it's told from the perspective of a rabbit. I don't know. I'll tell you if they're serious after I listen to it during my long drives.

7. If you were forced to choose only 3 books that you could read for the rest of your life, which ones would they be? (Or if you were stranded on a desert island, which 3 books would you want there with you?).
Do textbooks count? Lol. If it were a stranded island, I wouldn't bring any scary books, because I'm a scaredy cat. Maybe I'd bring a book about people being lost in the wilderness so that I could get some ideas. Someone really needs to write some Lost books. I'd bring those and count them as one book. Next, I'd bring Five Languages of Love to lift my spirits. Third, I guess I'd bring the bible. No, I'm not a Christian (everyone gasp), but I do enjoy reading it and learning about it. If I were stranded on an island, I'd get to read it.

8. Name one book that if you could recommend that everyone you know read, what is it?
Five Languages of Love, thanks Chelsea! I love it. I think that everyone should read it. It's a super quick read. It is sort of common sense, but it helps bring it to light.

9. What is your “guilty pleasure” reading?
I LOVE Sci fi books. =/ I could read them for the rest of my life.

10. What book (excepting the Bible or other major document of your religion/faith) has changed your outlook on life the most?
My slides from Dr. Timothy Loving's class? HDF majors, you know what I'm talking about. Not a book, but he could seriously write one.

Blog out.

  1. I loved Watership Down! Get past the rabbit thing, and it's great. Definitely not a joke book.

  3. I agree with your assessment on Love Languages-- It's totally common sense. You read it and you're like, "Well... DUH!" But it something you never THINK about. Great great book!
